Summerside Feature To Narragansett

Narragansett used his dangerous finishing kick to knock out the competition to win the Sunday feature in 1:56.4 at Red Shores Summerside.

The son of Rocknroll Hanover, driven by Jason Hughes, sat at the back of the pack before making his dash to the front past the three-quarter pole marker in a swift 1:25.2 put up by fraction setter Forever Paradise (Marc Campbell). Narragansett, who was still sitting seventh at the top of the stretch, blew by the field to win by a quarter of a length to post his sixth victory of the season for Foxyhall Racing stable of Summerside. Forever Paradise faded to second with Carnivore (Marvyn Webster) completing the triactor.

Walter Cheverie enjoyed another great day at the office with a driving triple on the 12-dash program. The veteran pilot, who is teaming up with Red Shores to raise money for Sadie’s Place in the annual Drive for Charity event, won with Sendmeasign, Forced to Travel and Athletic Putnam.

Corey MacPherson had a driving double when he guided Dusty Lane Dora and Tryron My Gigolo to top honours.

Red Shores Summerside also played host the annual PEI Matinee finals. Driver Wendy MacRae posted two victories with Muzzys Driftwood and Pictonian Walton. The other winners were Ramadawn for Ryan Desroches and Millar Millar for John Perry.

The horses in the program raced at four different tracks this season including Pinette, Kensington, Alberton and O’Leary to gain points to compete in the finals. Christopher MacRae moved into the announcer’s booth to call the action.
