All eyes were on Armbro Flight winner Hey Livvy in Monday’s $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park, but those eyes quickly moved elsewhere when the even-money favourite rolled into a backstretch break.

That development changed the landscape of the race drastically, and the one that benefitted the most was P L Jill. The Ben Baillargeon trainee front-stepped her way to an impressive triumph for driver Mario Baillargeon in a sharp clocking of 1:53.

P L Jill got away third in the early going while Perfetto buzzed along on the lead. That longshot leader chopped out the opening quarter in :26.4 before taking a backseat to P L Jill when she marched past him in the backstretch.

P L Jill went on to carve out middle splits of :55.4 and 1:24.1 before using a :28.4 final frame to fend off late pressure that came at her from both sides. Perfetto attacked on the outside and came up a head short, while Free Willy Hanover scooted up the inside to be beaten that same margin while finishing third.

The seven-year-old daughter of Kadabra-Fridays Gem now boasts an impressive record of 8-4-1 from 17 starts this season for owner/breeder Prince Lee Acres and partners Jill Coleman and Alan Christensen. The 32-time winner has banked over $600,000 to date.

The streaking Profound Paragon toted a seven-race winning streak into Monday evening’s 11-race card at the Campbellville, Ont. oval and she stretched the streak to eight straight thanks to a come-from-behind score in 1:56.2 for driver Bert Renaud.

The three-year-old daughter of Muscle Mass-Fox Valley Sommer rallied past even-money favourite Pier Ho Kado in the lane and easily fended off the late-driving Noblesse Duharas to extend the winning streak.

Trainer Julie Walker co-owns the photogenic filly with breeder Steven Titus of Manalapan, NJ. Together they’ve watched her assemble a 10-for-13 record this season while stashing away earnings in excess of $88,000.
