Making her move in the final turn, Hey Livvy lunged to the lead and won the $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Tuesday (Aug. 4).

P L Jill, the 9-5 favourite, cleared command from Grandma Heidi past a :27.2 first quarter while Hey Livvy raced in third. The field continued single file past a :55.3 half and towards three-quarters in 1:23.4 until Hey Livvy started to roll. Driver Trevor Henry angled the five-year-old Donato Hanover mare off the pegs moving towards the stretch and promptly darted past P L Jill heading for the finish. The Jeff Gillis trainee opened one-and-a-quarter lengths on P L Jill in progress to a 1:52 win while Grandma Heidi gave chase from third.

Owned by Blue Chip Bloodstock Inc., Ellen Ott and Trevor Henry, Hey Livvy won her fifth race from 11 starts this season and her 17th from 50 overall, earning $237,363. She paid $6.10 to win.
