Red Shores Summerside played home to a flurry of stakes action on Sunday afternoon (August 28) featuring the two-year-old colts and fillies in the Joe O'Brien and Lady Slipper stakes.

Tobinator bounced back with an eye-catching performance in the lone Joe O'Brien Gold division for $16,000. The Trevor Hicken trainee used a Corey MacPherson first over trip to overpower fraction-setter and the post time second choice Carters Caper. The 1:56.3 clocking was his lifetime-best score from four victories and just one-fifth of a second off the two-year-old track record. The son of Coastocoast Yankee is owned by Perry, Robin & Luke Burke, and Kent Livingston.

The win was part of a driving triple for MacPherson, who scored with Magical Cowgirl in a $4,750 Lady Slipper Grassroots division and Just A Professor in a conditioned pace.

The daughter of former Maritime free-for-all pacer Proven Lover, Filly Forty Seven used front-end tactics for driver/trainer Marc Campbell to score in the first Lady Slipper Gold division for $11,000. Campbell blasted his charge to the point and held off a late charge from Tobins Secret for her third victory of the season in a lifetime-best 1:59.2. She is owned by Darryl MacLean, Kate Smallwood, Cory Carver and Tanya Tremblett.

Campbell had a driving and training double on the card scoring with Ryans Allstar in a $6,350 O'Brien Grassroots division in 1:58.4.

Mark Bradley picked up a pair of 'Slippers' during his Sunday afternoon duties. Bradley guided his own trainee Shesaroyal Cowgirl to a pocket ride victory in the second Gold division. The red, white and black clad reinsman released Goodmorning Ky to the lead after post time favourite Woodmere Dreams made a break. Bradley tipped her out at the top of the stretch for her second straight victory, also in a lifetime-best 1:59.2. The daughter of Brandons Cowboy is owned by Brian and William Andrew.

Bradley also scored with Keep It Country in 2:03.2 in a Grassroots division.

Positive Outcome (Darren Crowe, 2:03) and Traces Of Purple (Walter Cheverie, 2:05) won the other two Lady Slipper Grassroots events. The Hawk (Danny Romo, 2:00.4) was the winner of the other Joe O'Brien Grassroots division.

The Ultimate Stable, trainer Sifroi Melanson and driver Mark Pezzarello had a team double, winning with Ultimately Handsome and Ultimate Flyingnun in the Peter Coughlin Memorial.

The afternoon wager was $36,658. Racing returns to Red Shores Summerside for a special Labour Day card.
