Elska Min rebuffed a challenge from Caress Of Steel in the stretch to win this weekend's $1,800 Open Handicap Pace in Killarney, Manitoba.

A third-place finisher in his last three Open starts on the Manitoba Great Western Harness Racing Circuit, Elska Min set out for the lead off the gate in Sunday's feature and kept Caress Of Steel at bay en route to the one-length victory in 2:01.4. Hale Street finished six lengths behind in third. Previous Open winners False Advertising and Smoky Moon completed the field.

Trainer/driver Richard Remillard and Valerie Emerson share ownership of the Armbro Baylor gelding, who has won five of his 21 starts this year in Western Canada.

Trevor Williams had the first training triple of his career on Saturday's card, scoring wins with Red Star Tiger, Fancy Camelot and Youshouldseemnow, all driven by Don Howlett. Fancy Camelot's 2:03.3 victory came in the $1,600 Preferred Pace and was her fifth in a row.
