Barona Lilac Continues To Give Back

After earning three wins through the month of July racing for the Boys and Girls Club of Truro and Colchester, Barona Lilac kicked off her August campaign for a new local charity with a victory in Sunday's top class at Truro Raceway.

Barona Lilac rallied home from the backfield to win the $1,375 feature race by a head over Scotian Lass in 1:57.1. Brookdale Buster finished two lengths behind in third.

As part of the 'Cheering for Charity' event, sponsored by Meridian Farms and Truro Raceway, Barona Lilac will be racing for 4H in August.

During last month's charitable campaign, the Darren Crowe stable hosted a meet-and-greet where the Boys and Girls Club had a chance to meet Barona Lilac and learn all about how to harness a racehorse. The children also had a visit with a farrier and decorated their own horse shoes. Barona Lilac also offered rides in a double-seated job cart with Crowe and driver Paul Langille as Truro Raceway hosted "Friends of Lilac Night" during Atlantic Grand Circuit Week.
