The fundraiser organized by Alberta horsemen in support of Stollery Children's Hospital this past Sunday surpassed all expectations, topping their $10,000 fundraising target.

Kelly Hoerdt's Bedrock Farms and Peter Giannakopolous' Nitza's Pizza organized the 1st Annual Family Picnic in support of the children's hospital. More than 700 people made the trek to Bedrock Farms, just outside Beaumont, Alta. for free food, kids activities, a 50/50 draw and a silent auction with a wide assortment of NHL memorabilia, jog cart rides, horseback rides, a dunk tank, bouncy castle, balloon artist, face painting, build-your-own-kite station and sparkle tattoos.

The proceeds from the silent auction, 50/50 draw and donations raised $11,500 for the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation. Organizers wish to thank everyone for coming out and also offer an extra thank you to all the volunteers that made it such a success with plans to do it all again next year.
