Stars of the Atlantic Sires Stakes program found their way to Truro Raceway on Thursday evening, as the half-mile oval hosted five divisions of the ATSS – two for rookie trotters and a trio for their three-year-old counterparts.

Now Look At Here won his $8,540 division in the freshman ranks for the duo of driver Brian MacPhee and trainer Ambyr Campbell.

The son of Armbro Barrister-Julaire led the field through fractions of :31.3, 1:04 and 1:35.2 before drawing clear to win by 6-1/4 lengths over Dusty Lane Mavis in 2:07.1. Third prize was earned by West River Dawn M.

Ambrose Laybolt of Morell, PE owns the colt who won in maiden-breaking fashion.

Ya Boy Bear was treated to a two-hole trip in his $8,540 division, and that was all the edge he needed to post the narrow victory for driver Walter Cheverie.

Little Miss Winnie supplied fractions of :30.1, 1:03.2 and 1:35.1, but Ya Boy Bear used a :29.2 closing panel to out-sprint that foe to the line in 2:04.4. Little Miss Winnie was a half length back in second, with Oceanview Hal a well-beaten third.

Bo Ford trains the son of Delcrest Julian-Diana Car for owner Michael Bailey of Morell, PE.

In the first division for the three-year-old trotters it was Buddy White turning in a front-stepping score in 2:03.4 for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Stephen Gass.

MacPherson hustled the colt through panels of :31.4, 1:04.2 and 1:35 before rocketing home in :28.4 to win by 1-3/4 lengths over West River Cindy. Taking home third prize was Oceanview Tadpole.

Blayne White of Belle River, PE owns the three-year-old son of Armbro Barrister-Highly Organized. From four starts this year the trotter has posted a 2-1-0 record. The three-time winner has banked over $18,000 to date.

Majian Gilroy also manufactured a front-end score for trainer/driver James Ripley.

The overwhelming favourite sliced out intervals of :29.2, 1:00.2 and 1:31.4 before cruising home in :31.2 to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Dustylaneambyr in 2:03.1. Oceanview Eunomia was third across the finish line.

Marylea Ripley of Amherst, NS owns the son of Tad The Stud-Askmetodance gelding who won for the first time in his career. He pushed his lifetime earnings over $10,000 in the process.

Buckaroo closed the curtain on the stakes action thanks to his 2:01.3 triumph for driver Walter Cheverie and trainer Bo Ford.

The gelding marched to the lead from Post 2 and never looked back through panels of :30.3, 1:02 and 1:31.4. He finished them off with a :29.4 closing quarter. Buckaroo won by 2-1/4 lengths over Mile Hill A J, with Daisy River taking home the show dough.

Sent off as the 1-9 favourite, the son of Tad The Stud-Buckling Banbury improved this year’s record to 1-2-1 from four tries for owners Larry and Kathy Chappell of Marshfield, PE. The seven-time winner has banked over $32,000 to date.
