Racetracks and associations across the country are making final preparations for the inaugural edition of National Caretaker Appreciation Day events being held the weekend of July 20-22.

Standardbred Canada along with horsemen’s associations and tracks across the country are partnering on this event along with many industry suppliers, sponsors and businesses local to racetracks who are also pitching in.

Caretakers, the unsung heroes of harness racing, are the foundation of our industry and are critical to the success of any horse in any stable. They are charged with the responsibility of making sure the horses they care for are happy and healthy, both physically and emotionally. This event is one small way that the industry can say thank you to some of the hardest working women and men in our sport!

Racetracks are putting their own unique touches on their individual events but most events will feature:

► Recognition of all caretakers racing horses on the day’s card – announcement of names during post parades and or winner’s circle; group photos of caretakers

► Awards for caretakers of winning horses

► Refreshments and a gift for all caretakers racing on the day’s card

► Recognition certificates

► Draw prizes and more!
