Hey Livvy Upsets In Preferred

Hey Livvy unleashed a huge rally in the lane and came away victorious in Monday’s $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park for the tandem of driver Trevor Henry and trainer Jeff Gillis.

The majority of the public’s money went to the nose of Musical Rhythm, who was shooting for a repeat in the class. His stablemate, P L Jill, was the second choice in the wagering at odds of 5-2.

They were both very active in the early going, with Musical Rhythm quick into action from Post 3 and P L Jill parked and driving from Post 8. P L Jill muscled to the lead in :27 and she proceeded to take the field through middle splits of :55.1 and 1:23.3 with Musical Rhythm on her back throughout. Hey Livvy, who got away seventh and held that position until the half, got into the flow in the backstretch and around the final turn. She kicked off cover in the lane and flew home in :26.4 to win by a head over P L Jill in a career-best clocking of 1:51.2. Mass Fortune K was a bang-up third.

Hey Livvy, a five-year-old daughter of Donato Hanover-Nevis Bi, is owned by Henry, Ellen Ott and Blue Chip Bloodstock. They’ve watched the mare put together a 3-1-0 record from eight trips to the track this season while stashing away more than $54,000 in the process. The 15-time winner has banked just shy of $200,000 in her career.
