Tight Race Among Mohawk Meet Leaders

It's a close battle atop the driver standings at Mohawk Racetrack this meet, and on Friday night, it got even tighter.

Entering Friday's program, Jody Jamieson and Sylvain Filion were tied for first-place with 34 wins at the Campbellville, Ont. oval while Mohawk's defending driving champion Chris Christoforou and Doug McNair were right behind each with 31 wins.

With a driving double on the 11-race card and his fellow meet leaders away competing on the Molson Pace program at Western Fair, McNair moved within one win of the top spot.

McNair picked up a pair of catch-drives behind winning sophomore fillies Doctor Terror ($4.70) and War Filly ($6.10). He steered the Blake MacIntosh-trained Doctor Terror first over to a nose decision in his first drive of the night and later eked out a neck victory aboard the late-closing War Filly for trainer John Powell.

Live harness racing resumes on Saturday night, with first race post time set for 7:25 p.m.
