Robinson In-To-Go At Woodbine

Published: March 3, 2015 10:24 pm EST

It hasn't happened for more than a decade but on Friday three horses entered at Woodbine Racetrack will be sent out by trainer Bill Robinson.

Robinson, who has been fully licensed by the Ontario Racing Commission as a trainer for a number of years, had been denied entries at WEG tracks since November 2003. He was active as a trainer up until 2012.

All three of the Bill Robinson-trained horses -- A Fearless Affair, Machnbyrd Princess and Rocknroll Xample -- were previously trained by Bill's son, Shawn.

Mr. Brown please correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe Mr.Robinson also campaigned Dragon Again and Art Major and if I may add to Mr.Erie, there are millions of dollars spent on the prodigy campaigned by Mr.Robinson. When investors go to the big yearling auctions they bid on those horses with deep pockets and confidence in the accomplishments of the sire they represented and they did so year after year as you are well aware. Mr.Robinson has been tried and judged and paid his dues it's what the democracy we live in calls "due process" love it or leave it these are the standards from which we live. What if someone suggested a life ban on breeding the horses trained by a suspended trainer. There will always be a line in the sand. I live in a jurisdiction where a horse received a positive test for epo, circumstances killed due process so it was deemed as it never happened, no redistribution of purse, good thing it was an over night race!!

Mr John Hill. As excellent a horseman as he was, to the best of my knowledge, Carl Allen never had anything to do with Cams Card Shark. Cams Card Shark was broken and developed by Mickey McGivern.

Its my belief that Mr Erie's criteria for "greatness" in a sire are somewhat lacking. Of the so called "great sires" he mentions, its my opinion that only Cam's Card Shark qualifies as truly great, with Mach Three on the precipitate. The others were just okay and that's all.

Congrats - Bill - long over-due - Bill Robinson is a great trainer - exceptional horseman - most of all a"wonderful friend" - he is without a doubt the most mis-understood individual in North America. My wife and I worked with Bill for over 20 years without so much as a disagreement -no one will ever know how much he did for others without taking any credit himself -Bill could have been a great marketing asset to our sport - unfortunately there where too many jealous competitors- all the best Bill - John/Linda Glassford

Healthy discussion can be debated in regards to Mr. Robinson. With that being said you can throw out any allegations as they pertain to all. The one thing that cannot and will not be disputed is that, away from the racetrack many of Mr. Robinson's horses excelled in the breeding shed which is a completely different side of the industry. Mr. Robinson got full performance on and off the track with many of his horses he trained and formerly trained. Here's a small list. Presidential ball (great sire) Mach Three (Great sire) Cam's Card Shark (Great Sire) Precious Bunny (Great Sire). Try and argue those performance's off the track. "I BET YOU CANT"...end of story.

Presidential Ball and Precious Bunny great sires? They don't meet my criteria for greatness. Mach Three was made by Joe Seekman and Cams Card Shark by the late Carl Allen and were passed on to Mr Robinson.

At what point will racing take a stand and bar cheaters for life....

bill should have been in the hall of fame years ago. in my opinion the best trainer in the history of the sport. welcome back.

Niner says great but who cares just another big trainer helping out so the little guys starving

I have no horse in the race so to speak, but there is punishment, then there is maliciousness. I think Mr. Robinson considering what has happened to others in similar situations has suffered too much of the latter!!

Question. If I had 10 MTO violations would you want to be beside or behind me in my truck on the highway?

Or would you give me the 'benefit of the doubt'?

Mr Robinson has served more than his fair share of time for his infractions. Welcome him back, watch him and hope he can do today what he did for racing before the positive tests. All the best Bill.

Good for Bill but who cares. So they go from Shawn to Bill. WOW breaking news
