Reports indicate that harness racing legend John Campbell will be driving at Solvalla Racecourse on the last weekend in May for his final on-track appearance in Sweden.

Harness racing's all-time leading money winning driver, Campbell has agreed to participate in the Travronden Speedrace, a short-distance sprint style 640-metre event carded for the Sunday card prior to the Elitlopp.

According to a release from Solvalla, Campbell will also be available for additional drives on the Saturday and Sunday cards.

"This is the last chance for me to [drive] at Solvalla before I finish and I'm very happy to have been given this opportunity," said Campbell. "I am excited for what lies ahead and it will be fun to take part in the speed race."

Campbell was announced as the next President & CEO of the Hambletonian Society last week, and he confirmed that position will mark the end of his full-time driving career come July 1.

"It feels really great [that] John Campbell chose to come here and that we can invite the audience to another great attraction," said Markus Myron, sporting director at Solvalla. "John is a fantastic driver that we are proud to see race at Solvalla one last time before he finishes his [driving] career."

1988 Elitlopp - Mack Lobell & John Campbell

Campbell is no stranger to Elitlopp weekend, having captured the 1998 edition of the two-heat test with the great Mack Lobell. The duo were reunited at Solvalla for a special ceremony in 2014.
