Prince Edward Island-bred Dusty Lane Zendaya was victorious in her WEG Circuit debut, winning in a 1:54.4 Canadian season's record for a three-year-old pacing filly.

The daughter of Aahm Canadian Now out of The Boss Daughter is owned by breeder Shelley Gass and Alexis Gass, both of Cornwall, P.E.I.

Driven by Tyler Moore in a $14,000 non-winners of one race or $12,500 event on Thursday night (February 16), Dusty Lane Zendaya swept up from mid-field and overtook Alexas Luck (Doug McNair) just after that filly made the front past the :58 half-mile mark. 'Zendaya' began to open up on top on the way to three-quarters in 1:26.1 and her lead was never contested down the stretch as she won by two and a half lengths, closing out her career-best mile with a :28.3 final frame. Alexas Luck followed in second while favourite American Sara (Chris Christoforou) finished back in third.

Dusty Lane Zendaya began her racing career in late December and reeled off four straight wins at Charlottetown Driving Park for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Ronnie Gass. She's finished no worse than second since, and boasts six wins overall from eight career starts with earnings totalling $11,500. Lynn Privett has taken over the training duties since the filly arrived in Ontario this month and finished second at Flamboro Downs prior to her WEG debut.
