To say it was a solid Monday night at the office for driver Austin Sorrie would be an understatement.

The young reinsman swept the Preferred features at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and prior to those wins he lit the lamp three more times to bring his nightly win total to five.

Sorrie got the ball rolling with Crankys Boy in Race 3. The gelding overcame an early miscue to win in 2:00.3. He then scored a handy win in Race 5 with The Girls Of Image, who captured the 1-1/16 mile affair in 2:08. A come-from-behind tally with Cal Hanover in Race 7 in a time of 2:02 made it a hat trick for Sorrie who still had some winning up his sleeve.

He rallied Casino Classic to a triumph in the $8,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 for trainer Robert Manders.

The six-year-old daughter of Casino Classic-Art Alliance kicked off cover late and drew clear to win by 1-3/4 lengths over Lifelong Dream in 1:59. Sirius Star took home the show dough.

Scott Manders and Keith Manders share ownership on the distaffer who won for the fifth time this season and for the 26th time in her career. She’s quickly closing in on $200,000 in lifetime earnings.

Veteran pacer Brocks Fortune gave Sorrie his fifth win of the evening when he wired up foes in the $9,400 Horses & Geldings Preferred 3.

The 10-year-old son of Stonebridge Regal-Fannies Fortune whacked out fractions of :27.4, :58.4 and 1:28.3 before scooting home to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Easton Beach in a time of 2:06 in the 1-1/16 mile affair. Third prize went to Prestige Seelster.

Owned and trained by Taylor Fritz, Brocks Fortune improved his 2020 record to 3-6-3 from 18 starts with the win. The 34-time winner has banked $423,454 to date.

As for Sorrie, the five-win performance pushed his 2020 win total to 128 – a personal best in a single season – while his yearly bankroll climbed close to $800,000 – which also represents a personal best in a single season.
