After 41 years of racing Standardbreds, Maritimes harness racing veteran Danny Romo was recognized by his hometown on Wednesday, October 22, as he was inducted into the Sackville Sports Heritage Hall of Fame.

Romo was inducted into the ‘athlete’ category, and joined Dr. Patricia (Benoit) Chafe (builder category), Donald J. Syms (builder) and the Sackville Acadians 1985-1986 Bantam ‘D’ (team) as 2014 inductees into the hall.

In the racebike, Romo has steered more than 3,600 mounts to the winner’s circle. Over the course of his career, Romo’s mounts have earned more than $5.8 million in purses.

On the training side of things, Romo’s pupils have won just under 900 dashes and earned more than $2.3 million in purses.

Romo has said that he owes his success to the continued support of his family and friends, his great barn staff over the years – especially the extra help on race days – and all of the great horse owners that believed in him and shared the journey with him.

Congratulations Danny !! This is such a well deserved recognition as the numbers speak for themselves. Having chose to stay and race in the Maritimes and still be able to rack up those winning statistics is nothing short phenomenal. Again, ( Well Deserved ).
