Gillie The Kid Upsets At Harrington

For the second straight night, there was an upset in the feature race at Harrington Raceway, as William Moffett Inc.’s Gillie The Kid ($17.40, Ross Wolfenden) was a 1:59.1 winner in Wednesday's (Oct. 16) $20,000 Open Trot over a sloppy racetrack.

Trained by his owner, the six-year-old Northern Kid gelding surged wide through the stretch to out-kick a ground-saving I Like My Boss late for an extremely narrow margin of victory that required a photo finish. Mr. Right finished third.

Gillie The Kid has won 24 races in his career and banked more than $280,000. Both of his wins this year have come at Harrington.

Earlier on the card, Totally Dreamy ($2.10, Tony Morgan) notched his fourth straight win for trainer Brian Wright and owners Jeff Beauchamp and Ron Short in 1:56.

The 2019 live racing meet has one more week until completion. Racing will be conducted Monday through Wednesday next week, with closing night on Oct. 23. Post time is 4:30 p.m. Eastern.
