On Saturday, October 14, Northfield Park will host eight $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes consolation races as part of the 15-race program. These eight races will feature some of the Buckeye State’s best freshmen and sophomore pacers and trotters, and will support the $120,000 Courageous Lady.

Freshman filly trotters will start Saturday’s stake action in race one. Trainer Christopher Beaver sends a trio of starters as the 3-5 overwhelming favoured entry. California Love (Stormin Normand-Frannies Ridge) starts from the rail with driver Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. for the partnership of Beaver, Beachy, Zeehandelar, and Synerco Ventures; Bugs MVP drew post four and will be driven by Aaron Merriman for owners Beaver, Carter, Sbrocco, and Zeehandelar; and Champagne Hall and driver Ryan Stahl have post seven for Beaver, Sbrocco, Zeehandelar, and Synerco Ventures. Also competing in the race will be Simplyamission, Next Woman Up, Eds Chargin Lady, Risky Deal, and Bang.

Race four will be the $50,000 consolation for freshman colt trotters. Trainer Alicia Hanners will start Dontforgetmaster (Dontyouforgetit-Pine Career) as the 5-2 morning-line favourite despite drawing post eight. Dontforgetmaster enters this race off a maiden-breaking win and has never missed the ticket in seven career efforts. He has earnings of $34,570 and sports a lifetime mark of 1:57.1 (Dayton). Josh Sutton is scheduled to drive for owners Mystical Marker Farms, VIP Internet Stable, Garland, and Eisman. Mr Jubilant, Win Chaser, Haul N Dash, Cash Lane, Icingon De Cupcake, Dance Withsomebody, and Sand Cash complete the lineup.

Pacers take to the stage in race five for the $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes consolation for freshman fillies. Pearl Crush (Yankee Cruiser-Pearl Berley) is the 3-1 slight morning-line favourite for owner Clyde Perfect of Lawrenceburg, Ohio. Ron Potter trains the filly, who won the $43,333 Ohio Breeders Championship at Delaware just two races back in a 1:55.3 career best. She has earnings of $51,189, winning two of nine races. Driver Ryan Stahl will start the pacer from post five in a field that consists of Cams Candy Girl, Missplacedrock, Filou Fly Fast, Big Bad Goldie, Tiffany Rocks As, Lily Grace, and Princess Rougarou.

Trotters again compete in race six for the $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes consolation for three-year-old fillies. Amuses (Break The Bank K-Sweet Mademoiselle) starts from post three and is the 3-2 morning-line favourite. She is owned by Robert Key of Leechburg, Pennsylvania. Trainer Rich Gillock has called upon Aaron Merriman to drive. This filly enters this race off a 1:57 career best win at The Meadows and has five wins in 22 lifetime starts with a bankroll of $145,958. Amuses has a host of rivals consisting of Vandys Magic, Emerald City Of Oz, Diva Dejarmbro, Full Of Pride, Monee Bank, I Like Purple, and Beautiful.

Race seven will host the $50,000 consolation for freshman colt pacers. Rockin Away (Pet Rock-Higher Standards) is the 9-5 morning-line favourite for owners Country Club Acres, Sbrocco, AWS Stables, and Lombardo. Brian Brown trains the colt and uses Chris Page to drive. This two-year-old has four wins in seven starts and enters off a third-place finish in the $75,500 Bluegress at Lexington’s Red Mile. He has earnings of $49,900 and mark of 1:53 (Red Mile). Rockin Away starts from post two in a field consisting of Spectacular Rock, Bounding Dragon, Dukes Cruiser, Sectionline Bigry, Lots To Live For, Gone Again, and Harambe Deo.

Race 8 is the $50,000 consolation for three-year-old colt pacers. Camwood (Woodstock-Clydes First Cam-Cambest) is the 9-5 morning-line favourite for owners Polhanus and Parsons. Mike Polhamus is the gelding’s trainer and calls upon Kayne Kauffman to drive. Camwood has five wins in 19 starts this year and has earned $75,210. He drew the rail and will face Big Bad Arcster, Lifewithjohn, Trial By Fire, Mclucky, Mannys Too Special, Sunnys Bro, and Heracer.

Trotters return in the ninth race for the $50,000 OSS consolation for three-year-olds. Trainer Christopher Beaver sends out Dekeyser (Dejarmbro-Pink Ribbons) as the 3-2 morning-line favourite. Dekeyser looks for his 15th win of the season and starts from post two. He enters this race off two consecutive victories over the Flying Turns in the $40,000 Ohio Breeders Championship and the $25,000 Ohio Fairs Championship. He sports earnings of $122,789 and a 1:56.2 mark at Northfield Park. Aaron Merriman is scheduled to drive for owners Beaver, Synerco Ventures, and Zeehandelar. Sweet Honey, Feisty Jim, Dejarover, Cinnamon Dunn, Speed Lane and Winning Memories complete the ninth race lineup.

Race 12 hosts Buckeye-bred sophomore filly pacers and is the night’s final $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes consolation. Berazzled (Charley Barley-Razmataz Hanover) is the 9-5 morning-line favourite from the powerful Christopher Beaver Stable. Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. will drive for owner Marion Beachy of Sugarcreek, Ohio. This filly has six wins in 22 starts, pacing in 1:52.1 (Scioto) and earning $255,281. Berazzles starts from post six in a field that consists of Woos Princess, Glorious Intent, Da Vinci Artist, Ellasen, Barley Nation, The Lady Vanishes, and Big Bad Jane.

The evening’s featured race is the $120,000 Courageous Lady Pace, an open contest for North America’s top three-year-old-filly pacers. The evening also hosts Northfield’s annual Pinktober Pace for the Cure race of all female drivers to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. Collectively, in excess of $575,000 in purses will be distributed throughout the night’s 15-race program.

From 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., patrons can participate in the Northfield Park Beer Slide and a Leinenkugel Stein Hoist is set for 9:00 p.m.
