News out of Sarnia, Ont. states that the Hiawatha Horse Park will be offering slot-machine gaming for the first time in eight years on Friday, January 30.

As an article by Sarnia This Week explains, gaming-area operator Gateway Casinos and Entertainment officially took possession of the gaming space this past Friday (Jan. 17) and is applying the finishing touches.

Gateway spokesperson Rob Mitchell has stated that the company is “in the home stretch” when it comes to readying the gaming space for Hiawatha Horse Park customers.

Much work has been done in the space to make it ready for the re-introduction of gaming. “Basically it’s a complete remodel,” Mitchell said of Gateway Casinos Sarnia. “The site has been vacant for eight years.”

Plans call for the casino to be open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., seven days a week.
